What Is a Measuring Wheel?
A measuring wheel, also called a surveyor’s wheel or walking wheel, records distance as you push it along the ground. A counter on the handle shows the total distance covered. It is faster than a tape measure for long distances and can be used by one person.
Uses for Fencing and Site Work
- Measure perimeter walls and plot boundaries before quoting an electric fence
- Measure free-standing fence lines to plan post spacing and wire quantity
- Measure cable and trench runs for CCTV, alarms and gate motors
- Measure roads, driveways and paths on site visits
From Measurement to Materials List
Once you have the perimeter length, enter it into our electric fence cost calculator to estimate the wire, posts, insulators and energizer the fence needs. For accurate readings, walk in a straight line, keep the wheel upright and reset the counter at the start of each run.
