What Is 1.6mm Galvanized HT Wire?
High-tensile (HT) wire is made from high-carbon steel that holds its tension over long runs with very little sag. A zinc (galvanized) coating protects it from rust, so it keeps its strength through rain and harsh weather. At 1.6mm, it is the lighter of the two common electric fence wire gauges and is widely used on wall-top security fences.

1.6mm vs 2.5mm Electric Fence Wire
The 1.6mm wire is lighter, cheaper per metre and easier to work, making it ideal for wall-top fences on homes and businesses. The 2.5mm HT wire (50kg roll) is stronger and has lower electrical resistance, so it suits free-standing fences, long farm runs and corners carrying heavy tension. For very long fences, aluminium fence wire conducts even better.

Installation
Run the wire through W posts or insulators, anchor it at the ends with strainer insulators, and tension it evenly. Join wires with proper joint clamps rather than twisting.
